These two trains however cross each other in 46 seconds. Calculate the ratio of the speeds of two trains?

Let us assume that the speed of train A be a m/sec and train B be b m/sec respectively. ⇒ Length of the first train = 54a meters, Length of the second train = 34b meters We know that, speed = distance/time ∵ The two trains are moving in opposite directions. Distance covered by both of them will be added ie. (54a + 34b). Also, Speed of train A & train B will also be added up ie. (a + b) m/s ⇒ Required time taken by trains = distance/speed = = 46 ⇒ 54a + 34b = 46a + 46b ⇒ 8a = 12b ⇒ a : b = 3 : 2
