Characteristics of learner: One who is actively involved in learning is known as a learner. Learning is strongly dependent on the cognitive, social, personal, and academic level of development of the learner. The characteristics of learner can be categorized into four, Cognitive characteristics: It includes memory, intellectual skill, mental stability, retention capacity, and knowledge. It can be varied based on how people think, perception and information. These relate to the attention span, memory, and intellectual skills that affect the retention of information, problem-solving abilities, and how the brain processes any data. It helps to think the learner logically to overcome the problem. It includes the following stages of development, Academic characteristics: They are more of education and learning related such as learning goals of the individual or a group, prior knowledge, type of education received, and level of education achieved. Social characteristics: These characteristics relate to the group and in the case of the individual its relation to the group. Some examples can be-the position of an individual in a group, image perception, Socialisation, etc. Emotional characteristics: It includes the emotional state of the learner i.e generation of stimuli (both positive and negative), feeling, perception, relationship matter, etc.
