In how many days 4 men and 5 women can complete a piece of work? Statement I – 8 men start working on the job and after working for 2 days they left. The rest of the work is done by 10 women in 4 days. Statement II – 12 men can complete the work in 4 days while 15 women can complete the same amount of work in 4 days. Correct Answer Statement II is sufficient alone Given: No of men = 12; time taken by them = 4 days No of women = 15; time taken by them = 4 days Concept: In this question, the unit of work did in various condition remains the same. So, the men and women do the same amount of work, calculate the unit of work done by each man and women and the total units of work. Formula used: M1 × D1 × T1 = M2 × D2 × T2 M1 × D1 × T1 = W1 Calculation: 12 M × 4 days = 15 W × 4 days ⇒ 4M = 5W ⇒ M/W = 5/4 ------(1) ∴ Total units of work done by 12 men in 4 days = 12 × 4 × 5 = 240 units ∴ 4 men 5 women can do 240 units of work in; (4M + 5W) × D = 240 ⇒ × D = 240 ------(From 1) ⇒ 40 × D = 240 ⇒ D = 240/40 ⇒ D = 4 days ∴ Statement II is sufficient alone
