Given radius of cylindrical jug is 21 cm and height is 32 cm. ∴ Volume of the cylindrical jug = 22/7 × 21 × 21 × 32 = 44352 cm3 We know that∶ Volume of the frustum = π/3 × h × Since R = 5 cm, r = 3 cm and h = 12 cm ∴ Volume of the frustum = 22/7 × 1/3 × 12 × ⇒ 22/7 × 4 × 49 ⇒ 616 cm3 Suppose the number of cups = x Since 50% cups are filled upto their 50% capacity only and rest 50% are filled completely; ∴ 616 × 0.5 × x/2 + 616 × x/2 = 44352 ⇒ 154x + 308x = 44352 ⇒ x = 96 ∴ Number of cups = 96
